  • Group of friends

Pleasent helpful staff. Good breakfast. Room was comfortable and fantastic view. Free WiFi was a bonus (and a selling point for us)

They were a little slow to replenish breakfast items at the buffet. Walls to the rooms very thin as an adjacent room complained about noise when the TV was on at normal volume. The carpet in the room could use a clean as there was evidence of preious spills.

  • Older travelers

    Nothing stands out.

Breakfast was unimaginative with no choice. Fixing/replacement of faulty hairdryer non existant.

  • Single

The staff were always helpful when approached, and the hotel had a well kept look about it.

  • Older travelers

Good comfortable bed, sea view, bathroom, bedroom fittings, breakfast and reception staff were quite good.

Too many steep steps at front of hotel with little disabled access. Lift was miniscule.

  • Single

it's a clean and well-run hotel on a nice section of the promenade; it is also handy for the electric railway but not the main bus terminal

the distance from the town centre

  • Group of friends

The very helpful staff and the friendly way that things were done, excellent breakfast, ideal location

  • Group of friends

The Rutland Hotel was in a good location and parking was easy due to being allowed 24hours at any one point. Food excellent and service great. Everyone was pleasant and helpful in the hotel. The room was very acceptable. I am manx born but like to stay in hotels now when I visit family, friends and come on exploration visits to bring Brownies/Guides at a later date.

Being woken most mornings between 6 - 6.30 by staff gathered in the outside ?? smoking area.

  • Single

polite friendly and helpful staff (this attitude was reflected in all the places i visted on the island) not the best hotel i have ever stayed at but very decent and then again far from the most expensive either. Value for money wise no problems whatsoever.

a fair way along the promenade from the town (does mean quite in the evening) and room was hard to keep cool

  • Older travelers

    Room was spacious and comfortable

dining room experience was poor large tables which rocked from side to side as people eat. If you were lucky enough to get a small table then staff and other diners were constantly walking around you. Staff took plates etc away too quickly.

  • Single

The bedroom was well appointed, very clean and the bed comfortable. The local reception staff were very helpful in giving advice re bus travel.

  • Couple

It was right on the front near a good bar and lots of free on road parking. Shower was powerful.

Over charged for a beer, no bath, a lot of foreign staff (Polish I think), when I arrived they said I had cancelled my room, I assured them I hadn't, someone had obviously made a mistake, lucky they were able to find me another room!

  • Single

Good clean spacious roomgood value for money

  • Older travelers

The beds are comfy and the shower was great. The toiletries were replaced and towels very clean.

The receptionist never spoke to us after we checked in. A polite good morning would have been nice. The first morning of our stay we had no idea where to sit or what to do for our breakfast, 3 waitresses never spoke or showed us to a table. We had to ask for tea/coffee, then went on a search for milk. We found the buffet but there was no plates, my husband wanted kippers but didnt know we had to ask. The same morning there were 2 other guests in the same situation. When we checked out the receptionist never came over to us to say thankyou. The hotel has a serious staff problem, everything else was great.

  • Group of friends

One of the members of staff was very helpful. However, I was mostly made to feel that I took second place to the coach party members.

As above plus the room was ridiculously hot ( 80 degrees) at night during quite cool weather! I had to argue quite hard to get a fan and then eventually a room change. The room was not as clean as I expected, dirty marks on the carpet for example. Little choice at breakfast, the same everyday and one particularly unhelpful member of staff in the restaurant. Overall disappointing.
